Southern Dragonhorn Antlers & Dragonmane

Dragonhorn antlers are now Northern Dragonhorn Antlers and there are now Southern Dragonhorn Antlers as well! These antlers look like massive horns reaching up and back, covered with pointed segments that look like scales. These can be applied to all elkh.

Dragonmane is now available as a Rare trait, both for beps and sonos.
This fluffy mane sprouts from the back of the head and neck only. Try combining it with other mane texture types by using a Mysterious Carving!

BEAST Boxes

The reward for participating in this event is a beast box! The level of box you recieve for a prompt correlates directly to the magic your aitielkh used in said prompt. Beast boxes are gacha boxes with a chance of winning any one of the items inside of them. Chances are listed below.

Beast boxes include beast tokens as well! The amount you get corresponds to the level of beast box (lv 1 gets 1 token and so forth). The beast token shop will open January 1st and remains open through February 7th; you will be able to use your tokens to purchase the prizes unique to this event.

Gilde Traits are now UC/R Traits

This month, we're consolidating gilde traits into Rare Traits and Uncommon Traits. The site and game have changed over time, and gilde traits just didn't really fit anymore. Furthermore, the prices of rare & uncommon potions are the same as gilde trait potions, so it just made sense! The traits are still available; they're just alongside all the others now! If you have gilde trait potions in your inventory, you may resell them from your inventory or use them as R/UC traits by attaching them to a MYO design!

Heldigs Charm

Introducing a new breeding item: Heldigs Charm! Heldig, the "god of luck", is often given offerings in the community discord when fawns are rolled, as users hope to get good luck in their elkh passing down desirable traits. We're making Restricted Traits more obtainable via breeding using this charm. Present this charm with your breeding claim to get a 50% chance of your choice of restricted trait being passed on to the fawn.

The number of charms able to be used on a breeding is limited only by the number of restricted traits the parents have, but they can only be applied to each restricted trait once. For example, if the parents have 5 different restricted traits, you may use 5 charms and each restricted trait will have a 50% chance of being passed down. You may not use more than 1 charm on 1 trait (in other words, if the roll fails to pass down the trait, you cannot keep using charms until you get a success; there is only one chance).

The snow is falling and the candles in homes are lit. There's magic and yule spirit in the air!

The Story of Hollygiving 

Bepotelkh may give out bundles of holly leaves and berries to other beps they think deserve them for doing a good deed or even just brightening their day some time in the last year. This is done in the name of the mysterious Spirit of Yule, an indescribable creature or force that embodies the magic of Yule and encourages reflection and new beginnings. It's said that the Spirit chooses some lucky beps each year on which to bestow some gifts, and that these gifts are presented by the equally mysterious Gifting Stag. The Gifting Stag is said to be a bepotelkh with flaming yellow eyes, growing in power in late December and appearing on the edge of forest clearings and the outskirts of villages. His antlers are draped in silver cone bells.

When a bep receives a bundle of holly, a human friend ties it to one of their antlers. To humans, bep antlers covered in holly are seen as a good luck charm. Beps who lose an antler (or both) while still wearing holly may choose to give one of those antlers to their caretaker or another important human in their life. These decorated antlers can be seen on doors and village gates. With wild and free beps, this tradition is similar, but instead of humans tying the holly on, they have to get the help of other wild creatures like shroomkin! In villages, holly bundles for giving are handed out to beps by their village ambassadors. In the wilds, beps must find holly bushes to snip bundles from with their teeth.

Instructions

• Choose one of your elkh to give holly to other characters. Your elkh can give holly bundles to any characters on the Bepotelkh, Shroomkin and Humans masterlists.
• You may use up to 15 of your own elkh to give out holly (a max total of 45 bundles). Please do not use more than 15 elkh.
• Each of your elkh may give out 3 holly bundles to 3 different characters (but please choose active users)!
  • You may, in ONE instance, have one of your beps give a holly bundle to another of your beps! (we decided this was too cute story-wise to be overlooked, but again, only once and with one bep!)
• Comment on this news post with the name and masterlist number of your elkh, and then write out the names of the characters as well as the owner's name in the comment. (no need to link characters, just please remember to add the usernames!) Example:

NOTE: To help out the mods, please either give the holly to three different users, or all three to one user.

The Avian Express is still going strong despite the winter weather! Have your elkh explore the quaint and cozy town of Kutoa. Beloved laid back town filled with sheep, shepards and textile workers! As a reminder these prompts are here to stay, but it's best to do them as they're released if you'd like to keep up and get more rewards! All Exploration Prompts earn gildes for the first month they are introduced; after that, you can earn the items by doing the prompt anytime, but no base gildes will be awarded (but you can still earn bonus gildes).

The Bepotelkh yule card exchange Returns!

That's right, our snail mail card exchange has returned! In this beloved secret santa style event you will send out a physical card or letter and receive one in return! We will use a google form to collect the participants information will be open until 7PM MST Sunday November 19th and then Nopal will assign the participants on Monday November 20th. 

IMPORTANT: You MUST be 18 or older to participate, and by completing the form you understand and agree that the moderator (Nopal) and one other Bepotelkh.com member will receive your mailing information. All addresses will be kept private and disposed of after the event.

Intructions:

• Cards can be handmade or store bought!

• Some ideas for handmade cards are traditional media like paints or markers or mixed media with paper cutouts! Bepotelkh themed is great but it can also just be celebratory or have animals etc. (please nothing overtly religious).

• It is NOT required but you can also include things in your card like stickers, recipes, poems etc. (just make sure the card isn't too full/heavy!)

• We are expecting to have international members participate so please be aware that the stamp may be a little more expensive (In USA a domestic stamp is $0.66 and an international stamp is $1.50), So please be prepared to use a few extra stamps or buy an international stamp (you can order stamps at USPS.com if you're in the US). We also ask that if you are partnered with a group member outside of your country that you ship your card early!

• The absolute deadline to send your card is Dec 11th. If for whatever reason you sign up but then can't ship your card by the 11th please contact Nopalrabbit via Discord (Nopalrabbit) or TH (Nopal) ASAP.

Secret Santa art exchange sign-ups are now open!  We are allowing for written entries this year so please make sure to specify if you'd like to receive ART ONLY or EITHER OK. If you are a writer you will automatically be put in the latter pool (this is to ensure enough people will be accepting prose gifts but won't guarentee that you get prose).

Instructions:

• Please read the instructions and fill out your form carefully! Sign-ups end Sunday November 19th.

• Once you are assigned a bep, make your gift by December 21st. All art pieces (traditonal or digital) must be colored, pixel art must be at least 100x100px, written pieces should be no less than 450 words. Art does not have to be full-body but please put love into your entry as this is a gift giving event!

ULPUKKA SUBDUED

Aitielkh willing to brave the dark and damp gathered in Glimworm Gulch to subdue Ulpukka. Returned to her former self, she vanished once again into the depths of the bog. Not all walked away unscathed, though; some elkh left the scene forever cursed. Whether they see this as a boon or an embarrassment is up to the individual, but regardless, these special elkh can now breathe underwater! It seems that ambassador Juhla was one such elkh. Though he seems a bit sheepish about it, it seems like he may enjoy his new abilities as he jumps from the docks of Glimworm Gulch, living life to the fullest as always.

Kelpie's Curse

Elkh who encounter Ulpukka may be subject to Kelpie's Curse: a trait which "curses" the elkh to live with a kelpie form which allows them to breathe and swim underwater. In its most extreme appearance, the form includes milky eyes that are missing an iris, glowing pupils, upper tusks, waterweeds in the mane and/or tail, and a greenish appearance overall (we use a 40% color layer with a subdued green).
This form has several options:
-A permanent kelpie appearance (strong curse)
-A semi-permanent kelpie apperance which only occurs when the bep touches water (weaker curse)
-A mixed kelpie appearance where the bep's base form includes an upper tusk (if not already present) and semi-milky eyes (weaker curse). They may still look further kelpie-like when they touch water.
You're free to apply this trait to any bep and decide which option fits your character. Some kelpie-cursed beps (or.. "belpies") may appear typical until they touch water, leading them to try to hide their condition. Others may embrace their new abilities!

You may submit an additional masterlist image of your elkh's kelpie form as an image update if you wish but it is not required when applying the kelpie's curse potion. This potion can be applied to any type of elkh or aitielkh; aitielkh have more control over the curse than regular elkh. In-canon this gives your elkh the ability to breathe and swim underwater.

The debris bunny is a wild creature from Rainsong Forest. Its greenish coloration helps it blend in with ground mosses. It picks up sticks and other debris as it shuffles along, adding to its camouflage. In dangerous situations, it plants its face into the moss and appears as an unappetizing pile of debris.

Acorns

Acorn currency returns for this year's autumnfound! This currency is valued 1:1 with gildes, and can be exchanged for gildes anytime, but it's primary use is in the special Autumnfound Shop, which is now open in the Events Shop!

The Autumnfound Shop is now open! Find retired autumn accessories, exciting gacha boxes, companions, and other items for a lower cost during the event! These items are only available via earning acorn currency by participating in various Autumnfound events. Throughout the entire event, you'll be able to convert acorns to gildes at any time by sending in a claim and attach the amount of acorns you would like converted. All Aboard!

We have some very exciting news! Silkkassa's very own railways have been finished! Your elkh can now travel much more quickly if they're willing to board specially made trains. Traincars are made for beps and humans both to feel comfortable.

Train Travel exploration prompts

To celebrate the new railways, we've created a new prompt. Your elkh can travel to various villages throughout the contenent to sightsee and collect stamps in their stampbook, as well as a special companion and accessory! The first of these prompts is for the star city of Silkkassa: Kei! Earn a fancy pigeon companion and a jewled key pendant by completing this prompt. These prompts are here to stay, but it's best to do them as they're released if you'd like to keep up and get more rewards! All Exploration Prompts earn gildes for the first month they are introduced; after that, you can earn the items by doing the prompt anytime, but no base gildes will be awarded (but you can still earn bonus gildes). New Exploration Prompts will be available sporadically in between other events!

These new village exploration prompts will also include beautiful new location art (by LordStarryFace) which is also added to the corresponding location page.

Since we're exploring Kei, it's time to meet the Royal Family! Silkkassa elects its leaders, but in old tradition, they take the appearance of a ruler and live at the castle. We're delighted to share these beautiful designs created by Faios.

Post Worlds-Collide: A changed world

With the portal sealed, lost young ones found, and corrupted friends healed, what's left is a world of beings who have been shaken by the strange happenings that connected Silkkassa and Lunerest. In the scramble to work together to save one another, species that would normally keep to themselves have made themselves known. Humans are aware of aitielkh and shroomkin now, and are thus far treating them with respect and caution. Of course, a few humans have long known that aitielkh are real- the magickers who live on the edges of society allied themselves with the magical bepotelkh counterparts long ago.

Shroomkin and Aitielkh continue to be wary of humans and their villages, but opportunities for friendships have opened up. Aitielkh on principle do not do jobs for humans and thus do not canonically earn gildes or get work permits, nor do they reside within villages. They may pick up accessories as gifts now, but they would not deign have their manes trimmed or braided by human hands. They continue to follow Aiti's path in the wilds, but with newfound possibilities of connections with humans. Shroomkin may feel less inclined to turn up their nose once they know and trust a human. They may appear in villages occasionally, but are unlikely to reside permanently as they will always be called back to the forest and their deep ties to the forest floor and mushrooms.

Habapi are more likely to enter and hang out in villages now, and may freely barter with humans. It's unlikely humans will be entering the jungle in any large numbers, especially due to the difficulty of the journey there, but it's possible. Habapi are unlikely to allow humans to reside in the jungle, and may continue employing tactics to scare them away.

As for Lunerest, some traces remain. Star Moles are here to stay, as are the traits and enchantments found during the chaos. And of course, ambassador Matka will continue to visit Silkkassa and consult with their buddy Noë, who is now healed, if not a bit anxious about what transpired. It seems that, even with the corruption beasts banished, the forces of corruption are still at play in this world as they were before the portal opened, so there may be more mysteries yet to unravel.

The event shop with Worlds Collide related items will be closing August 6th. Anyone with remaining Lunar gildes will be issued regular gildes as the currency vanishes with the closing of the portal to Lunerest!

Storyline focus event

In response to feedback, we've decided to introduce months that focus on Storyline prompts! During these months, you may earn bonus currency for completing Storyline prompts without worrying about missing out on any special events. We hope to have these temporary bonuses occasionally during months where other events aren't scheduled. Storyline prompts include: Village Stories, Wild Pact, Oasis Dreams, The Desert Trail, Followers of Aiti, Trail of Mushroms, and Jungle Delights.

When you submit your prompt, the bonus reward you get (in addition to standard currency) will be randomly generated.

50% chance: 3 Gildes
25% chance: 5 Gildes
20% chance: 7 Gildes
5% chance: 1 Crystal Gilde

Reminder: Recieve a 10CG award for completing any Storylines Path! This reward is available all year.

Habapi have some new base traits, and can now use the combination trait carving. See the Habapi visual trait index here.

Shroomkin Storylines

Shroomkin prompts have been expanded to become storylines, including their own factions. Characters now earn the 10CG bonus for completing storylines along with the badge trinkets that are collected in their award cabinet. These storylines apply to both Silkkassan and Miatian shroomkin.

The other existing shroomkin prompts are still in the general shroomkin prompt category.

Completion of all storyline prompts by a character awards them the Trail of Mushrooms badge sash!

• Per request, a new All-Purpose Restricted Trait Potion item has been introduced, which is available only in the USD shop and can be used to add any restricted trait to a MYO design, regardless of what's available in the CG shop during its seasonal rotation.
• Timbre/Herboreal remains on break due to ongoing health issues, but will be a bit more present in the discord again. Any commission openings will be announced in the chat; she is otherwise closed for new work.
• New Patreon tiers are available for site-only rewards, and there are now two different tiers to choose from. If you join a Patreon tier and do not recieve your rewards within 24 hours, please DM herboreal on discord, as it's possible we didn't recognize your name/handle. You are welcome to DM her right away when you join if you'd like your rewards more quickly! After a long month of darkness, your elkh looks up to see the three moons have vanished, leaving only one, and the light of dawn is rolling in over the horizon. The world is still for a moment while everyone recovers from the onslaught of corruption beasts, but as the sun rises feelings of relief and hope swell in your elkh's heart.

Our Worlds Collide event with LUNEREST continues for the month of July! For this prompt you may depict your characters being healed or helping heal the injured aiti after the attacks! You may also submit prompts showing your characters celebrating their victories and new friends!

The corruption beast's scourge

As the battle continues, mages from Lunerest have been studying the effects of the corruption beasts on the affected aitielkh. The aitielkh attacked by the beasts have been left weak, unable to cast their magic and covered in mysterious dark markings. The mages have discovered that the corruption can be healed, although it can leave some lasting effects on the elkh if they are not treated in time or if the corruption has sunken too deep within.

The lunerest scholar Oberon has noted these effects. If the aiti is able to be healed in time, like ambassador Noe, their colors and magic return to normal. If the healing ritual is too late, some aiti do have lasting effects, most notably the corruption marking, that sheds mysterious stars and moons. Once healed, the Aiti are no longer in danger and are able to use their magic again; the marking, however, remains. Other effects have been noted too; some aitielkh's magic has turned dark when once bright, the magic is just the same but the appearance has changed. Some aiti have found the corruption has even effected their flower crowns, leaving their flowers wilted or dry.

(Note: These are optional effects that the corruption marking may have on your aitielkh.)

Oberon and the mages have informed the elkh, they must finish clearing out the corruption beasts! They are almost defeated, and once they have been banished, the healing process can begin!

• To adjust to the new hair styling rule, we have discontinued the trait Cropped Mane, as this style can now be achieved with a haircut. Beps who have been affected have had their masterlist entries altered and compensated with an uncommon trait if necessary.  The No Mane rare trait will remain in effect as it is technically a lack of long hair growth, and players using haircuts may not shave the whole mane to replicate this trait.

In place of Summer Beast Trials, a special crossover event is taking place!

The world of lunerest

This event is a crossover with Lunerest. Lunerest is a world of almost perpetual night, where only brave xyns can dimension-hop (and thus some may indeed have visited Silkkassa!). But this world is dangerous as it contains corruption beasts which need to feed on magic to survive. You can read more about Lunerest species here!

Restricted event traits include:

Corruption markings: (Aiti only) dark markings that ooze dark stars and moons.
Trailing stars: (Aiti or Bep/Sono) A glowing star enchantment which trails behind the elkh.
Star rune: (Aiti or Bep/Sono) A glowing star enchantment which hovers quietly over the head of the elkh.
Cupie wings: (Aiti only) Feathered or bat wings which are tiny and float above the elkh.
Halo: (Aiti only) A shining, sparkling halo appears above the elkh's head or around the tail or legs.

Starmoles from Lunerest have appeared in Silkkassa and Miatias!
Dusky, Powder, and Pricklypear moles are available in the event shop for Lunar Gildes.

Another enchanted accessory appears! This magical ribbon from Lunerest has magical qualities. If an aitielkh wears it, they can control the ribbons and use them to interact with the world! The colors can change to match with the owner. On a non-magical elkh, it's just very pretty.

And a special elkh accessory has been made by lunerestians to celebrate their arrival in the bepoltekh world! The Lunar Halter features the iconic night sky motif of Lunerest.

Event MYO Moodboard Raffle

These moodboard MYOs will be raffled off on July 1st! You can pick up a ticket using gildes in the Event Shop! Each MYO must use the attached traits and should follow the palette fairly closely. Changes to rolled fawn MYO and gilde bought myo RESALE RULES

Going forward, we're disallowing the resale of MYO rolled fawns or any MYO that was bought with in game currency (gIldes). As the group grows and changes, we sometimes feel the need to tweak rules, and this is one of those things we've been considering for awhile now. If you get official custom designs of your rolled fawns (not rebases) by Herboreal or Nopal, they may be resold. If you get a rebase by Herboreal of an adult MYO you may resell the design. If you buy a MYO slot with irl money, the character made with the slot may be resold.

Please note this change does not apply retroactively; any rolled fawn MYOs you own and have already had designed can continue to be resold freely. However, any designs that pass through the system starting June 1st 2023 will be marked as gift/trade only, regardless of how long the slot has existed.
