Villoso's Ritual Realized

Thanks to the help of many elkh in protecting the boarlets as they sought out moonflowers, Villoso was able to move forward with his ritual, performed at the aiti pool. Something strange is happening! We'll have to wait for word from Villoso or other Followers of Aiti to find out what's going on.

We do plan to do some more general prompts! And of course beast trials and explorations will continue. We're glad they're being enjoyed <3 We will also try to continue character development related prompts and games. Another exploration prompt is set to be released May 1st!

We have some big worldbuilding events coming soon- one of which is already unfolding with the latest beast trial :3c We will try to think of some new holiday events as well. Longstanding prompts like storylines are meant for character development, but we will also consider ways in which events may contribute to this goal as well.

We'll definitely keep this in mind going forward!

For specific retired items, there was mention of getting CG store items at events. This is already a feature, and the CG store is meant to be a way to get the items year-round. Many of these items are available in various gacha boxes during autumnfound, or in the birthday box, or via beast trials. Mimic may be the only one not available anywhere else right now but we'll keep that in mind. We're also working on introducing more ways to earn CG other than paying USD, but the currency was intended to be a "premium" currency so that will remain it's primary function for the sake of funding site development.

The website

Was registration confusing to you at first?

The results were a resounding "no".

Were any parts of submitting to prompts/gallery confusing to you at first?

The results were a resounding "yes, kind of".

Response:

We encourage use of the guides, especially the "getting started" guide, but those weren't necessarily readily available when the site first went up, so this makes sense! It would be nice if the Lorekeeper framework had a built-in way to streamline the prompt submission process, but as-is, it has to remain this way. It's possible that future versions of LK will make this process easier. We're always happy to help via the questions chat on discord, too. However, if you have suggestions for how to improve the way we communicate this information, please let us know!

How do you feel about the process of designing/submitting Characters?

The results were mostly that it's easy/well liked.

Response:

I'll address some specific issues raised:

• One entry mentioned that it's not an enjoyable process. Without knowing any details, we're unsure if this means the mechanics of the submission or the process of the design being approved. Either way, if you need assistance, we encourage you to reach out! We do have a MYO submission guide in the Guides tab that may help as well, and if the issue is that designs get kicked back for edits, please review the Design Guide.
• One entry mentioned that the Design Guide should mention that Subspecies are available for MYOs. We've edited the guide to make clear mention that these are available for MYO usage, and also links to the encylopedia for more information on the subspecies. There are also bases available for all subspecies.
• One entry mentioned that bep rarity doesn't appear to change when trait change items are submitted with a MYO/design update. This is untintentional and a mistake on our part. Due the the Lorekeeper framework, this sometimes can't be changed until after the character is approved, so it's a matter of us noticing and remembering to do it. If you notice this has been missed (or if ANY of your characters rarity does not match the highest rarity trait they have), please submit a claim so it can be fixed. We've gone through and fixed a lot of the recent MYOs.

Is there information you find difficult to access on-site?

The results were largely "no", but when they weren't, lore and location info seemed to be the tricky ones.

Response:

A lot of this is once again the general structure of Lorekeeper, but we hope that as you use the site, it becomes easier to navigate. We tried to place the Guides tab in a more obvious location so it's easier to get to; we will add the locations to the dropdown menu under "WORLD" soon to make those more accessible as well.
A LORE page has been added under "WORLD", but we need to finish filling it out.

Is there information you believe to be missing from the site?

All answers were "no" except for one: "The magic trials are still on the weebly site"

Response:

This was a copypaste error when the guides were set up. The magic trials have been in the prompts for a long time and the copypaste error has been fixed.

Are there features you'd like to see on our site?

Suggestions and our responses:

• A way to link characters (like toyhouse)
  • We really want this too! This just isn't possible with the current LK framework. Perhaps version 2.0 will have a feature like this, or someone will create an extension for it in the future. We're keeping an eye out!
• Being able to see all the traits in one picture
  • The visual trait index serves this purpose. Re-editing and uploading a single image with traits in it over and over was very tedious, so we hope the visual trait index is helpful- we've added it to the navigation under "RESOURCES" to make it easily accessible.
• Access to information about events including past events
  • News posts are left up with information about past events. Unfortunately, if we leave old event prompts up, it creates confusion about what prompts are available to do at any given time. If you have further suggestions about how we can make this information accessible, please let us know! We could perhaps make a guide to events, listing calendar of events that occur throughout the year.

Designs and Sales

We'll skip a lot of these as it's info mostly pertinent to designers, but some things warrented a response, so we'll list those here!

How do you feel about markings as traits? Etc.

Results and responses:

• I like them (x9)
• Specific marking options for aitielkh might be helpful
  • We'd suggest using regular elkh markings if that's the case. While it's not required, you can certainly choose to use them (they still should not be listed as traits on the ML, however)!
• I prefer aiti for the markings freedom but MYOs are hard to get
  • We're making aiti MYO tickets easier to access and reducing the cost of various MYO and upgrade tickets in general.
• Restrictive traits make it hard for newcomers to get into the game/for me to be creative
  
  • After discussion of potentially removing markings as traits, we have opted to keep them for the time being, but we're going to make an effort to provide more options and flexibility where possible. It's difficult because of the breeding system. If things become too flexible, traits don't mean anything anymore. We  have discussed breedings only applying to physical traits and colors, but largely the markings system is preferred by current players, so we're going to do our best to meet this request halfway as we know it can be frustrating!
• Sonos and beps should share markings
  • We feel this keeps them separate and unique; however, you can easily combine traits by making your character a hybrid.

some color palettes you'd like to see more often in premade designs?

• Darker palettes
• Black and white
• More unusual colors on beps/sonos
  • This is just canonically not possible which is why we don't do it ;w; we could utilize more dye, however.
• Less black and gray
• Purple, gold, white, pale
• Yellow, brown

ImmINENT changes

We're changing up some traits to make more sense and offer more versatility!

MYO TICKETS & THEIR PRICES

• Aiti MYO tickets were added to the General Shop
• Prices reduced on elkh MYO tickets, aiti transformations, habapi MYO tickets, and shroomkin MYO tickets.
  USD shop MYO ticket prices reduced

Traits being retired:

• Updo
• Single Braids
• Multiple Braids
• Braided Tail

Players that have beps with these traits will automatically be provided with trait potions for each instance of this trait on beps they own. The potions may be kept and used, or may be resold from the players inventory for gildes. Braids and other hairstyles will be free-for-all now and can be changed at will. Sonoelkh with the UPDO hair style will have the trait changed to Windswept and will be awarded a rare trait potion to compensate.

These changes were discussed with members in the sponsor chat and ultimately decided upon by Nopal and Timbre; however, if you are strongly opposed, please let us know. For that reason, we're waiting a day to implement this change.

Traits becoming restricted:

• Carved
• Paint

These traits just did not make sense as heritable traits from  breedings, so their rarity is being upgraded to Restricted. You can now easily add these traits to your bep by buying a Carving Kit or a Paint Kit from the Elkh shop and applying them to your MYO or design update, just like Hair Dye!
The traits have had their rarity updated and characters with these traits have had their character rarity upgraded.

The removal of braids/updo as traits will happen on Friday April 7, at which time compensatory trait potions will also be sent out! These can be resold to the shop for gildes if desired.

New Traits:

• Shaped Marking (rare)

This trait will allow for one marking on a bep or sono to be any shape of your choice (as long as it fits within the canon of this early 1900s-era fantasy world). You can have multiple shaped markings by purchasing multiple rare trait potions and applying them to the design. This does apply to the typically restricted stars and hearts. To be clear though, it would not look the same as there would only be ONE star per rare trait potion. Bep/sono color restrictions apply.

STorylines Refresh

Storylines have been adjusted a bit for this month!

Keeping things OrDERLY

When we first launched the new site a year ago, Storylines prompts were all locked behind one another so that they were done in order as intended. However, leaving them locked kept the following prompts information hidden, so users couldn't plan out a story in advance. Our dev Wisp has helped us so the prompts can continue to be locked, but their information will still be visible before you unlock them by doing the prerequisite prompt!

Award Cabinet

Those of you who are longtime players may remember that we had charm racks, flower crowns, and a ceramic art piece to collect as a character completed storylines. Collecting these pieces and putting them on the charm rack was a bit of a pain for users. Now, your character will be given an award each time a Storyline prompt is completed, and that award will be veiwable from their profile! Once the character has completed their chosen Storyline, they will recieve the finished product as an item they keep in their inventory.

Once the storyline is completed, the finished collection of items will be placed in your elkh's inventory.

Claiming past awards

If your elkh has already earned some or all of the storyline rewards, please submit a claim and attach the character(s). We will verify by looking at their rank points. If you have submitted the prompts on the website and are missing rank points, please send in a claim with your old prompts listed in the comments. If you have not submitted old storyline prompts yet from back in the DA group days, please submit them through the prompts themselves so you can unlock the next storyline. NOTE please tell us in the comments if you've already received the gildes for these old prompts.

We thought the Matsana Exploration prompt was so much fun that we would keep it open indefinitely! You can visit the Matsana Jungle with your elkh anytime henceforth and earn a Mossy Chest with a selected random prize inside. Please note that the Stars of Aiti potion has been replaced with a habapi MYO ticket and the Jungle Leaves Potion removed! We won't be using mossy gildes anymore, and will instead directly deliver the chest when the prompt is awarded. Likewise, exploration points are no longer a part of the prompt.

Thanks to mod Pandelirious, we have a few new Shroomkin prompts!  The new Shroomkin prompts will earn you a little wooden badge for your Shroomkin's award cabinet (they can wear the badge on their shawl if they like!) We hope to flesh out gameplay with shroomkin more in the future.

Winter '23 Beast Trials Wrap-up

The melodies were mightily impressed by all the amazing shows Aitielkh from all over put on for them, and Valasong provided blessings to many elk in the form of wings and the very unique uni antler! Some melodies were so impressed they even followed the elkh home! Great work, everyone!

The Beast Trial Shop is open until March.

Matsana Jungle exploration event

February is typically known for the famous Sono Races, but this year, everything has come to a halt!
Explorer Rambler has returned from a year-long journey and everyone is gathered around him at the center of Tama to hear about his discoveries.

The people of Miatias are familiar with the jungles on the other side of the mountains, but there is much superstition surrounding the area. Miatians value the open sky, and the dense canopy of the jungle is inhospitable in this way, along with generations of stories warning of all manner of unpleasant creatures and strange happenings to those who dare enter. Even Rambler's human adventuring companion Meridian declined to attend this exploration, but Rambler forged ahead.

First, a whole new subspecies of elkh has been brought to light!

Meet Casa Sonos!
These teeny-tiny counterparts to Villa Beps are mildly fluffy all over, but not to the extent of Villas.
Unlike Villa's reputation for a sunshiney attitude, Casas are stubborn, independent, and resourceful.

Casa Sonos are available to make via MYO slots and customs immediately!

Exploration event

Rambler also spotted some new creatures and ruins, but he's requesting a team of brave souls to join him on a return trip to learn more.
If enough explorers join in, they may be able to uncover even more exciting discoveries!

Exploring the Matsana Jungle via drawn or written prompts will earn you Mossy Gildes (1 per prompt) which you can later use to purchase Mossy Treasure Chests from the Event Shop (1 gilde = 1 chest). The Event Shop unlocks when the meter reaches 25 points.
Mossy gildes will  vanish 1 week after the event ends (March 7) so please spend them quickly! They will only be used for Mossy Chests in this one-time event, so no need to hang onto them for later.

The contents are a mystery but perhaps teammates will share their findings with you as chests are discovered!

Work together to thoroughly explore the jungle and ruins. If the goal is met, an exciting new discovery will reward all participants!

-We reached 25 points and the Events Shop was unlocked! Everyone can now turn in their mossy gildes for mossy chests throughout the event!

Congratulations! We reached 60 points; the end goal (and so quickly)! All this exploring has uncovered a new playable species called Habapi. These peccary-like creatures have a fascinating history you can read about in the Habapi guide. All participants throughout the event will receive 1 free MYO ticket; additional tickets are available in the event shop for a discount during the event, and will be available at a higher price in the general shop afterward. (if you have yet to participate, you will get one when you do!)

We currently have no plans to use mossy gildes in the future, so please spend them promptly as they will disappear after March 7. Remember to pick up your free pet and discounted MYO tickets before that date as well.

A new and unusual new trial is here! Valasong has summoned Aitielkh to the south shores of Silkkassa near Reheva, where the ocean meets rocky cliffs and pristine beach. Track the event's progress on the tracking page!

Valasong Aiti Traits

The featured prizes in this round of Beast Trials are two different trait potions! These potions can be applied to aitielkh/sonoaitielkh only. They will, respectively, give your aitielkh feathered wings and a unicorn "antler" (which can appear one of two ways as shown in the encyclopedia). Uni can be combined with other antler types to create new combination traits. Feathered and bat wings can also be combined (requiring a mysterious carving of course).

Regarding aitielkh subspecies

In the past, we decided natural born aitielkh could not be various subspecies. Because of changes to the lore, namely that all elkh subspecies arose naturally in nature, we've decided to open up aitielkh to all subspecies, so please look forward to more villa, mountain, and other aitis.

Hollygiving Wrap-up

Just a note to say thank you for participating in our first Hollygiving on the new site! We're going to change a few things next year to make things go a little more smoothly, including a hard deadline for sending holly out, a limit on how many beps can send holly from one user (some users felt too overwhelmed to even start, so we want to help!), and allowing holly to be spent through Dec 30th with the rolls taking place Dec 31st. Again this is all for next year, so we hope you look forward to it!

Hollygiving

The snow is falling and the candles in homes are lit. There's magic and yule spirit in the air!

The Story of Hollygiving

Bepotelkh may give out bundles of holly leaves and berries to other beps they think deserve them for doing a good deed or even just brightening their day some time in the last year. This is done in the name of the mysterious Spirit of Yule, an indescribable creature or force that embodies the magic of Yule and encourages reflection and new beginnings. It's said that the Spirit chooses some lucky beps each year on which to bestow some gifts, and that these gifts are presented by the equally mysterious Gifting Stag. The Gifting Stag is said to be a bepotelkh with flaming yellow eyes, growing in power in late December and appearing on the edge of forest clearings and the outskirts of villages. His antlers are draped in silver cone bells.

When a bep receives a bundle of holly, a human friend ties it to one of their antlers. To humans, bep antlers covered in holly are seen as a good luck charm. Beps who lose an antler (or both) while still wearing holly may choose to give one of those antlers to their caretaker or another important human in their life. These decorated antlers can be seen on doors and village gates. With wild and free beps, this tradition is similar, but instead of humans tying the holly on, they have to get the help of other wild creatures like shroomkin! In villages, holly bundles for giving are handed out to beps by their village ambassadors. In the wilds, beps must find holly bushes to snip bundles from with their teeth.

Instructions

• Pick characters from the masterlist to give holly to.
• Each of your elkh may give out 3 holly bundles to any other elkh they choose (but please choose active users)!
  • You may, in ONE instance, have one of your beps give a holly bundle to another of your beps! (we decided this was too cute story-wise to be overlooked, but again, only once and with one bep!)
• Comment on this news post, linking the bep who is giving the holly, and the three candidates they are giving holly to!
• A moderator will send the holly currency to the recipients you chose.
• Holly currency can then be spent at the Yule Shop, where you will find Gudvin has all kinds of gift boxes!
• The gift boxes each enter you into a different raffle. See the below image to learn what you're entering for and buy the corresponding box.
• Open the raffle ticket box to be entered into the raffle!
• The hollygiving raffle will be rolled on December 26th and items will be delivered the same day.
• If we get a high number of entries, we will increase the number of winners for each raffle!
• You can enter all the raffles as many times as you want!

Winter Shop Update

New winter accessories are available in the Bepotelkh Shop!
Includes a blanket and two kinds of matching antler ornaments. As a reminder, you can adjust the colors of any official accessories to best match your character.

Can be added to individual character's inventories for maximum cuteness.

Giftwrap is here!

Just in time for Yule, you can now wrap and send gifts in these festive boxes! Going forward, there will be one limited gift wrap design available in the shop each season.

How to use:

• Purchase your gift wrap from the Bepotelkh Shop, then visit your Inventory.
• Click on the gift wrap.
• Click the check box.
• Click "Wrap Item" which will create a dropdown menu.

• From here, you can choose an item, MYO slot, or currency.
• You can also click the check box to let the recipient know what's inside before they open it- or keep it a surprise!
• Once you've selected the item, click WRAP.
• The wrapped box will appear in your inventory.

• Click on the item in your inventory and then click TRANSFER.
• From here, you will be able to select a user to send your wrapped gift to!

During this even players will sign up to be placed onto teams (team Pumpkin Pie- led by Ket, and team Tricky Treat- led by Leonja) and must "attack" one another with gift art to earn acorns, which can be spent in our Autumnfound Event Shop.

From November 1st  to November 30th You will be able to upload gift art to your team's Giving Gala gallery. All submissions MUST be uploaded to the correct gallery to be counted for points for your team. Each acorn = 1 point. 

Acorns/points will be awarded STANDARD GIFT ART CURRENCY, you can read more indepth information on scoring here.  Some bonuses have been removed/altered to streamline the event. Details will be posted on Nov 1st.

2022 giving gala!

Today is the day! The 2022 Autumnfound Giving Gala has begun! During this event players are placed onto teams (team Pumpkin Pie- led by Ket, and team Tricky Treat- led by Leonja) and "attack" one another with gift art to earn acorns, which can be spent in our Autumnfound Event Shop.

From TODAY November 1st  to November 30th You will be able to upload gift art to your team's Giving Gala gallery. All submissions MUST be uploaded to the correct gallery to be counted for points for your team. Each acorn = 1 point. 

There is no "friendly fire" in this event, you are welcome to make regular gift art and send it in via claims to receive gildes!

ART REQUIREMENTS

All gift art must be clean and colored to award acorns. Please be considerate and put care into your work.

• A bust with foreground or background elements earns 3 acorns.
  • Examples of foreground or background elements include: a frame, floral background, stars, etc.
  • Busts MUST include this feature, floating heads will not be counted.
• A clean, colored fullbody (75%+ of the body) earns 6 acorns.

• Simple backgrounds earn 2 acorns.
• Complex backgrounds earn 4 acorns.

Please check the character's profile and inventory to make sure they own said companions/accessories.

• Companions owned by elkh featured earn 2 acorns each. Bonus applies to a maximum of four companions.
• Simple Official Accessories owned by the elkh earn 1 acorns each.
• Complex Official Accessories owned by the elkh earn 2 acorns each.

Additional Characters

Additional characters must either be 1) Owned by the same owner OR 2) Characters that have already estatblished canon relationships AND both owners are on the same team.  It is recommended that you stick with only drawing one character or stick to drawing one owner's characters together.

You may not add your own character into the gift art. Any art that breaks these rules will be disqualified as the mods will not be able to award points accurately.

• Minor additional elkh, shroomkins, or Silkkassan (49% or less of the body) earn 1 acorns each.
• Major additional elkh, shroomkins, or Silkkassans (50% or more of the body) earn 2 acorns each.

Gallery and submissionsThe Pumpkin Pie and Tricky Treat  art galleries will open Today. You MUST upload your gift art to your team's folder. This is so the mods can tally up the points at the end of the event. To receive your acorns you will have to submit your art via the GIVING GALA prompt.
You may submit multiple gift arts for multiple people as a compilation in one gallery picture but only if you have given the recipiant a copy of their individual art elsewhere.

Autumn Beast Trials Wrap-up

Furcifer has been subdued and healed successfully, and is no longer a troublesome presence in the canyon. His fuzzy familiars seem to be relieved and very tired. One question remains in everyones mind: who or what is causing the corruption of Aiti's desciples?

This event requires your aitielkh to use their magic to subdue corrupted creatures. As the creature is subdued, aitielkh are awarded Magic Points, which will affect the outcome of the battle. You can track how far the group has come via the Events Tracking page.

Beast Boxes

The reward for participating in this battle is a beast box! The level of box you recieve for a prompt correlates directly to the level of magic your aitielkh used in said prompt. Beast boxes are gacha boxes with a chance of winning any one of the items inside of them. Chances are listed below.

Beast boxes include beast tokens as well! The amount you get corresponds to the level of beast box (lv 1 gets 1 token and so forth). The beast token shop will open November 1st and remain open for 1 month; you will be able to use your tokens to purchase the fuzzy familiar, spade tail, bat wings, and dark sclera potions.

Autumnfound Continues!

• Starting on October 25th, you will be able to sign up for the !!!Giving Gala!!! which returns in November. For those who are new players, Giving Gala operates similarly to ArtFight; players are divided up into teams (team Pumpkin Pie- led by Ket, and team Tricky Treat- led by Leonja) and must "attack" one another with gift art to earn acorns to spend in the Autumnfound Shop! Details and signup will appear in a news post October 25th.
• For this month, we wanted to focus on Beast Trials, but you can also continue to create and submit Autumnfound prompts all season!
• You can still do the scavenger hunt to earn acorns and a restricted trait potion gacha box!
